Go Boldly

Hello!

I was excited to play along with the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge again this week.  I just loved the sketch - well, I do love them all, but this one in particular really drew me in.

I wanted to make a card for one of my co-workers who has been very patiently waiting to get official news about her job status - long story.  Very long.  But we just found out this past week, that after all of the waiting, she got the news she had been waiting for.  I am so thrilled for her - she is very talented in what she does, and she is just a fantastic person overall.  The job she has just been confirmed in presents many challenges and frustrations - I know, because I do the same one ;)  But I know she will be a superstar.  So I thought the sentiment and the theme of the card were perfect!

Here's the sketch:

And here's what I came up with.

All Paper Smooches - Space Cadet set.  Check out Anna's blog too if you haven't already for an out of this world (pun intended) card using the same set.

Hope you like the card (and hope my co-worker does too)!

Thanks for stopping by,
Shannon

  6. “Go Boldly” – absolutely adorable! The stars, the rocket and the little ‘pilot’ inside: charming! If this comment had ‘volume,’ you’d hear me squealing with delight! Again, you have paired the ‘essence’ of the card with the purpose; both a ‘congratulations’ on the new position, along with a boost of confidence, to your co-worker. She’ll be thrilled to receive this! With you as her mentor, helping her navigate her new role, I’m sure she’ll find rewards and fulfillment in the midst of the challenges and frustrations. Your spirit of generosity, encouragement, and caring is one-of-a-kind. Wherever your place of work may be, I hope they treasure your positive presence!! Thank you, too, for sharing a link to Anna's blog. Sweet!!

  8. Hello wonderful Shannon (my extended response to your heart-warming Friends post)
Oh my, oh my…from happy dancing, to blinking back tears, to more happy dancing, – and quite a bit of ‘me, she’s talking about me (both as a question and exclamation) – your post has touched me deeply. You, Shannon, are a most unique individual: one who treats others with respect and care; one who has a genuine interest in the journeys of others; one who is willing to ‘take a risk’ in reaching out; one whose friendship is to be prized. And prize I do! Kind-spirited, joyful, , thoughtful people like you: rare finds. I, for one, continue to be amazed that my ‘simple’ comment to your delightful cards has lead to what is, for me, an incredibly positive, nurturing exchange. I’m honoured you consider me a *friend* - and know I take that very much to heart!! Your husband, family, friends, colleagues – those graced with your ‘real life’ presence – must absolutely adore you. Absolutely! “Mutual admiration” – you have mine, in triplicate!!
A cutting machine – Cuttlebug - and dies – Spellbinders (only a few) then My Creative Time (LOTS!!) - were two of the triggers that ‘officially’ launched me on this journey. I have no recollection of how the full immersion even began (beyond wanting to make cards for the little ‘uns), but here I am (and joyfully so!). I love my ‘bug, and the dies are frequent go-to sources, especially since I couldn’t cut a straight line if you paid me! When I first bought dies – an ‘investment’ that I continue to indulge in (I admit to buying a few from MCT’s recent release – but am proud to have held back on the ‘full bundle’. Mason jars just aren’t on my ‘interest’ screen), I was ‘green and wide-eyed.’ Everything caught my eye; everything was on my list. On the not-so-smart side, I’ve bought a LOT of stuff; on the plus side, everything was at a sale price. Still…quite the investment. I had no clue what ‘paper piecing’ was a few months ago, and now, I love, love, love it! Stamps vs. dies – the scales are tipping to the former! Fingers crossed my PS stamps arrive this week; maybe some of my crafting stuff will find its way into my luggage later this week…
“Amazing” teacher – oh, how I hope I was! I know I worked hard, and truthfully, the ‘freedom’ from marking/prepping is so refreshing! If the ‘right’ opportunity presented – as in teaching in an ‘outreach’ –type school – where I’m currently an admin assistant – I’d certainly consider returning to the profession. Regular classroom…not appealing, at this stage. I’m fortunate in my current role: interaction with students and teachers (two are housed in our little domain); still a member of the ‘district’ community; still partially ‘in the game’ so to speak. I continue – odd as it may sound – to read education-related blogs, take a keen interest in how technology can impact learning, and so on. Earlier, I added yet another ‘school-ish’ article to my Evernote ‘School’ notebook. So, while I’m ‘out’ of the gig physically, you’re right to say it continues to beat in my heart. Who knows what may come; perhaps a door will open – and as long as I have card-making time (plenty!!) – I may step through…

Oh yes, be sure to check out my post later…it, too, is dedicated to someone amazing!!!
Talk to you later – have a fantastic day! Before I go, how much did your co-worker love her “Go Boldly” card?? That one (as many of yours are) is huggable!!
