For a Sweet Birthday Girl!

Hello!

My sweet little niece will be turning 11 in July.  I used the CAS(E) this Sketch #32 challenge to create her card!  At first I was puzzled by this sketch.  I couldn't seem to get the balance just right.  But with a little playing and experimenting, I think I found just the card I was looking for.  I hope my niece will really like it :)

Here's the sketch:

And here's my card:

My style seems to be all over the map these days!  Back to clean and simple on this one.  I ended up rotating the sketch clockwise and went to work from there.  I am just in love with that little hamster from Paper Smooches.  The background is Paper Smooches as well, I think from the Geographic set.  The sentiment is Avery Elle and the balloons are from yet another old set that I salvaged in my purge - they are from Stampin Up.  The background behind the circle is also from old, salvaged supplies.  I used a Stampin Up background stamp for the textured blue, and I used an extremely old embossing template to "impress" the flowers.  This was old-school dry embossing with a stylus - I don't have an embossing/die cutting machine!!  Although I have been thinking for a while now that I really do need to get one!

Hope you like it, and hopefully my niece will too!
Have a sweet day!
Shannon

  1. Oh, your balloon-toting cutie hamster will evoke squeals of thrilled delight from your niece, guaranteed! Yet again, another showcase of how thoughtful Auntie Shannon is! I'm really impressed with your 'old school' style of embossing, as in WOW!! I agree, however, perhaps time for a die-cutting machine (love my cuttlebug) - so much easier! Love the card! Will be in touch soon - craaazzzyyyy time!

  3. I love how the embossing peeks through the hole. I just love that little hamster. I want to give him a little hug!
