Hello!
I'll try to make this a quick post (although every time I say that, it becomes more than "quick"!!). I've been busy, busy working on some retirement cards for an amazing lady I previously worked for. I haven't "reported" to her for years but she has always remained an incredible friend. She has done so much for me, and my family too, and it's important to me to make these as close to perfect as I can get! So that's what's been taking up most of my time in the last week, but I did want to take a little time away from that to play along with two challenges this week. First, I HAD to play with Case Study. The AH-MAZING Donna Mikasa is the muse - she is such an inspiration to me - how could I resist?!! I also wanted to try my hand at the new Card Concept challenge. I did my best to combine the two challenges, so that I could get back to the retirement cards. Card Concepts: please forgive me? I used three shades of pink, instead of just one, and combined "kraft and vanilla" in my copic colouring. Hope that's ok!
Here's the card:
I think my card definitely falls into the classy and elegant category. No? okay, maybe not! Clean and Simple, maybe! Funny, I really have no idea what my style is!! That sweet little monkey is from Mama Elephant and the flowers are from the PS Calico set. I added the little white dots to the flower centres. The sentiment is also PS.
Here are the two challenges:
Case Study:
(this card is brilliant!)

Okay, back to the retirement cards! Thank you SO much for coming to visit!

ReplyDeleteOh yes, classy and elegant for sure! heheh! Well it sure falls into the totally adorable category as do all of your cards! I think we need to make a new category! That little monkey is precious and I adore all those pink flowers, even if they are in three shades of pink ;) Great job combining the two categories!! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteI ADORE it! AND whatever you do or did you are forgiven (Teeheeee) You are amazing to me and I want you to know I am sending HUGS.
ReplyDeleteLoves you are rockin the Mama Elephant set, so ADORBS and the sweet PS sentiiment!
I'd say classy and elegant too - this card is absolutely adorable! Thanks for joining us at The Card Concept!
ReplyDeleteBless your heart, Shannon! I LOVE your take on the card and adding the little monkey tops it off! You took it and made it your own. Genius!
ReplyDeleteOh, Shannon, how very sweet of you to make this card for me!! Wait. What? I'm NOT the retired lady you were talking about?! Well, let me tell you, she is going to treasure it and GO YOU for making it work so wonderfully in these two challenges!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteOh-my-goodness! This is adorable! I love that little guy. And it was so darn clever to use him for this challenge. I love it!
ReplyDeleteThree shades of pink is absolutely not a problem....pink is pink (light, dark, otherwise). And good thing you did, because those flowers look awesome! I love the cascading shower of delight! And that cute little monkey, so perfectly shaded AND fussy cut, sporting a dashing espresso, vanilla & kraft suit is just too cute for words! Definitely clean & simple, although I would translate the CAS to cute and simple! Awesome job Shannon.
ReplyDeleteAnd now I will put on my Card Concept Challenge DT hat and say thanks for playing along with us for the first ever Card Concept Challenge!
This card is adorable!! SO cute!! The colors are great and i love the cute monkey and the little flowers!! Fab!
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining us at The Card Concept!!
Your card with that sweet little monkey, using a wee flower to flutter, flutter, gently to the ground is sheer delight. A wee 'squeak' of joy at seeing it may have been heard...okay, it was heard! Your design is brilliant, and perfect for both challenges. Your post, too. TOTALLY entertaining! I certainly consider your card classy and elegant...or clean and simple...or sweet, fabulous and awesome!! LOVE it!!! (Will this comment stick, or not stick, that is the question! Hello, Blogger people...making some of us crazy!! I NEED to tell my people how awesome their cards are! Fingers crossed this stays put!!)
