Did you see the cool inspiration photo for this week's Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge?! I really wanted to play along, and I had a Bon Voyage card in mind for a friend who is going to Hawaii next week (lucky her!).

But I have to admit, I cheated...a bit! I ended up substituting kraft for the gold, just because the card was shaping up to be a softer tone, and I thought the gold would flash it up a bit too much. But I did sneak it in just a little by sparkling up the hibiscus - does that count?! Just to jazz it up a smidge, I used glossy accents on the sunnies, and some liquid black enamel on the airplane. (The black enamel looks bumpy in the picture, but it's actually really smooth irl). I think I should have rounded a corner or two, to soften it up a bit, but, I didn't...oh well!! I also cheated by sneaking in a Lawn Fawn sentiment - I was really wanting it to say Bon Voyage, and the sweet Get Outta Town set from PS didn't have that specific sentiment - hopefully it's ok :)

Darn cute card! Maybe you can squeeze into her suitcase and go along for the ride! That sure sounds good right about now. We're in for more snow this week....Anyway, your card is awesome. ReplyDeleteSqueal!! A card with suitcases - and pink ones at that! I had no idea such thing existed (yes, emerging from under the rock...sloooowly)! The sparkly glasses, wee plane, tropical flower, with its whisper of gold (lagging behind yet another trend) and sentiment (yes, permission to mix and match companies given *grin*) make for a card that will thrill your friend immensely! Once again, a lovely gesture from you (you cover all bases, my friend!) to ensure your buddy a great trip, and letting her know you're thinking of her. I'm with Bev: you and your husband should jet away to someplace where fun and frolic are the only items on your agenda! February in Hawaii sounds excellent...LOVE x LOVE your card!
