...by the Chimney with Care

Hello!

Just sharing another Christmas card today!  I stamped and fussy cut five of these sweet holly branches with the intention of making a wreath.  Which I did.  And while the wreath looked good, I was struggling (who knows why!) with the card design.  So I went with a new direction and created a bough with them instead.

And here's what resulted:

I don't know what made me decide to throw in purple for the stockings - it was on a whim!  But I kind of like it with the green and red.  Who knew!  Almost all images are from TAWS, with the exception of the bows at each end of the bough - they are from PS (Spring Fling).

Hope you like it!  And hopefully I can sneak into my craft room again today - hope you can too!
Thanks for coming by today :)
Shannon

  2. I have a daughter who is mad for purple, so these little stockings are just fun to me. Great coloring and cutting, and just love those rough edges on your main panel. Great card, Shannon. Bev

  5. Eeeee...how adorable is your expertly fussy-cut darling stocking-laden bough! You and kraft - rockin' it; you and TWAS+PS - rockin' it (reminder: DT opportunities to be had...*wink*); you and the cool panels - rockin it!! Must know: what kind of kraft do you use? I have some, but its colour is paler than yours, with wimpy thickness. Maybe with something more robust, I'd give kraft more of a try, considering allllll the amazing inspiration you offer!! The purple stockings: perfect! They remind me of the crazy poofy socks I have - purple/pink stripes - and so fluffy they don't fit in shoes! They're like wearing toasty clouds (my husband rolls his eyes when I wear them). And I happen to know a certain little niece who is wild-crazy about purple... LOVE x LOVE this card! Hugs~c

  6. Purple totally WORKS!!!

Seriously, who'da thunk it? You called it and you got it bang on right!

Gorgeous tattered edge! I'm thinking that this is going to join your stitched border and precision scissor work to become your signature style! Fun, funky, and perfectly balanced! The first thing I noticed was where you placed the sentiment - it fits perfectly in that little gap between the stocking and the garland and creates a perfect circle of motion between the elements!

Yep, another fine, FINE example of your talent!

  8. I think what happened here was that you were open to just following along to Mr. Mojo's whispered instructions inside your head. You just let it happen and the result is magnificent, Shannon!! Not the expected wreath, but a fun holly banner for hanging ... totally better!! And purple stockings? Um, I'm pretty sure all card artists hang purple stockings on their mantles and all of your readers are gonna love this whimsy touch!! Hugs, Darnell
