Hello!
I had a chance to play Lisa Arana's Wanna Sketch Challenge #9 today. No way I was going to miss out on this baby! I'm going to be away for a few weeks, starting Sunday, so I wanted to make sure I squeaked this one in before I go. I just love Lisa's sketches - they are so inspiring!
Here's the sketch:
Here's my card:
As you can see, I'm still experimenting with my crazy, hand drawn borders! I'm not sure if this one makes the card too busy, but I thought it was kind of fun! The birds and the banner are Lawn Fawn and the bird cage is Jane Doodles. All the letters in the sentiments are PS - had to do some more creative masking to get the sentiment I wanted :). The card is for a sweet co-worker of my husband's who has been transferred to another office. She is quite happy to be "escaping" and looking forward to the change. I made the "c ya" to represent the flight trail - good thing I didn't have much more room, because I was tempted to make it c ya suckas, just to be cheeky!!
Hope you're having an awesome day!!
Shannon
Seriously LOVE this!!! Too clever with the sentiment and those adorable birdies!!! I love your doodle frame, it is just perfect. Thank you again for playing with wanna sketch dearie, I truly look forward to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteLOVE these borders most!!!!!! It works so great with LF stamps too! And I love the little "c-ya" ^_^
ReplyDeleteThis is so, so cute Shannon! Your cards are always so clever! The border that you drew and the c-ya are the perfect additions to the card! P.S. Thanks for sharing the Wanna Sketch Challenges - they're so much fun to play along with!! :)
ReplyDeleteClever take on the sketch using that bird cage! Love this, Shannon! And your hand drawn frame should be turned into a stamp! It's so fun!
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me? Shannon - this is amazing AGAIN!!! This border looks like a white embossed stamped image! Sorry if I a repeating my question, but what brand of pen are you using? The ink flows perfectly - no blobs or splooches (is that a real word?) Great job masking the sentiment! Love these colors together too :)
ReplyDeleteHey, I think the cheeky part is cute - why don't you add it to the inside? I'm sure it would make your DH's co-worker giggle when she read it!
Perfect! Love the "c ya" trail and the perfect scene. I thought your doodled border was a stamp!
ReplyDeleteLOL...this is ADORABLE.
ReplyDeleteI love your hand doodled border...I think it adds the perfect touch to your sweet card. I always love it when people do personal touches like that!
This is a totally FUN card!! Great job with the sketch~
ReplyDeleteI've been MIA because our neighbourhood cable/internet services are being upgraded! *SNORT* All we've had is sporadic connections! Here I am, fingers crossed, that this time my comment will stick!
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE and LOVE your card!! Your borders are awesome (maybe you could start a new line of stamps!!), the 'message' absolutely fabulous, and the sentiment, perfect for the gal you're giving it to! She'll laugh with delight, especially if, as Geri suggested, you include the 'other' sentiment idea inside! Again, your sweet-heartedness reveals itself with this thoughtful, 'made especially for you,' card! Creativity and 'essence' = top notch! You must be so excited for your trip. Countdown nearing the 'go' mark!! Hugs!

This is a quite remarkable card from the original sketch. I do like your birdies very much and that you have made it for an "escaping" worker is so clever. I've missed visiting your marvellous blog for a while, but hope to visit it more regularly. I'm sure I'm not the first person to request that you install a follower gadget so that each of your new posts pop up in my blog reader.
